Tony Gilroy Supposedly Earned Millions For Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Reshoots

rogueonejones

The question of reshoots has chased Rogue One: A Star Wars Story since the summer. There were reports that Tony Gilroy had come onto the production for reshoots, and even took somewhat of a lead in post-production over director Gareth Edwards.

It's been a little unclear how true these reports were, or to what extent, but if this new one from The Hollywood Reporter is to believed, it seem the Gilroy is going home with a big pay cheque. While he initially came onto the movie to handle bits of dialogue and scenes for the reshoots at $200,000 a week (which is said to be fairly normal for a top writer), his workload expanded as he took a more and more hands on approach in reshoots and in post-production for longer and longer. It's said that a lot of the reshoots and reworking was done surrounding the ending of the film. In the end, it's said he will take home $5 million.

This is all alleged, but The Hollywood Reporter aren't known for getting these kinds of reports wrong. Of course this doesn't mean anything about the movie's quality. It could still come together, and footage and trailers look excellent, so I have hopes. I hope one day we really do get to the bottom of what happened here on this production, but lets actually get the movie's release out of the way first.
