CharityWatch: Remember these Doctor Who shots? The photographer got his action figures signed at the time by Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, and they are up for auction for charity at the 3rd Annual Corsham Sci-Fi Family Funday taking place this Saturday at Corsham Community Centre, with guest stars Danny John Jules, Alan Ruscoe, Mike Edmonds, Richard LeParmentier, Garrick Hagon, Steven Wickham and Liza Ros
GraphicNovelWatch: Patrick Marty created a graphic novel about the Chinese judge of the living and the dead, Judge Bao last year. And this week, took it to Shanghai…
"The judge was Chinese, but in that story he was pictured very strangely – he had a dark complexion and was marked by a crescent moon on his forehead. Even more astonishingly the judge investigated worldly cases in the daytime, but at night he traveled to the underworld and sat in judgment on dead people. I was really confused whether this man had really existed or if he was just a Chinese myth.

"Joss is bringing on another writer, Andrew Chambliss, who wrote on Dollhouse and Vampire Diaries. So they've collaborated extensively. So where Joss can't come in, a lot of the writing chores will be on him. Joss is still executive producing and he has all of the approval and the say, and nothing goes out without him looking at it. So it'll hopefully be a nice tighter, leaner season."
MoneyWatch: The Village Voice on why cartoonists are penniless.
The New York Press picked him up at $35 a strip and eventually upped it to $100. When (Tony) Millionaire went to the Voice, they gave him $150. In cartooning, that's a bidding war.
The pathetic pay gets less funny as you get further along in your career.
This is Computo the Comic Link Conqueror speaking. The BC Comichron has been judged inferiror and I have replaced it in perpetuity. Howebver, I also come for your women. But for now I merely collate comic-related bits and pieces online. One day I will rule. Until that day, read on.
A History of Mini Comix Begins with Connecticut's Own The Purple Warp – Fairfield County Weekly
It was one-quarter the size of a sheet of typing paper, distributed to only a few hundred readers nationwide. It sent out its last cosmic comic raybeams in 1973. But The Purple Warp has maintained its power to warp minds and rewrite the rules for what constitutes a comic book.
Jeffrey Brown On His Incredible Change-Bots And More: Chicagoist
I grew up watching the original Transformers cartoons, playing with the toys, reading the Marvel comic books. In high school I had the cassette soundtrack to the Transformers animated film and some friends were making fun of me, saying, "What's on that tape? Sixty minutes of chee-choo-chee-chook?" And so years later I was doodling in my sketchbook and came up with the Incredible Change-Bots, making fun of that aspect, and later just everything I found amusing and lovable about those old cartoons.
VENOM!!! hey kids, lookee what i did.
Some of Earth's mightiest super-heroes have teamed up with New York's Bravest to battle a common foe.
So my ears pricked up when Deb Aoki Tweeted that Image has picked up two titles that were originally done for Minx: Poseurs, by Deborah Vankin and Rick May, and All Nighter, by David Hahn. Alas, Deb was underwhelmed by Poseurs:
X-Men: First Class Title Sequence on Vimeo
Inspired by classic Sixties movie titles and prompted by John Struan of Super Punch fame, I've built a 1960s style title sequence for the upcoming X-Men: First Class film.

Between writing and drawing Vertigo's SWEET TOOTH and working on scripts for SUPERBOY and FLASHPOINT: FRANKENSTEIN AND THE CREATURES OF THE UNKNOWN, Jeff's got a ton of great work coming down the pipeline. (Did I mention an appearance in next month's STRANGE ADVENTURES from Vertigo?)
