Tony S Daniel, On Leaving The Justice League For Now

As part of DC Rebirth, the Justice League book was relaunched, written by Bryan Hitch and drawn by Tony S Daniel.

Recently the book's creative team was switched out for spinoff stories from Justice League Vs Suicide Squad, but solicits revealed that Fernando Pasarin and Matt Ryan were the new artists on the title. Then Tony S Daniel revealed in a series of tweets that he wouldn't be returning any time soon. And that it wasn't his choice. But that he has new DC projects in the works. He posted on Twitter,

I hated leaving #JusticeLeague. I had 0 choice in that. I am with DC exclusively. I will be on something long term very soon

I did only 4 issues of JL. Which is why I had to move on. Deathstroke I had only committed to 1 year.

Fans can be unforgiving regarding creators and sticking to schedules, but events have a habit of butting in, in a quite horrific fashion. And Tony posted the following on Instagram.

Today my wife begins her battle against #breastcancer. Discovered in a routine mammogram, she joins millions of other women (and men) who have bravely fought this menace. The boxing gloves and flowers we found on our doorstep last night, left by a great friend. One of many friends and family who have come to rally behind us. She will knock this opponent out of the ring. We are thankful for the support we have received. #DCIS #earlydetection #mammogram

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Daniel family, and all those going through similar.
