Crunchyroll: Anime, Manga, and Much More

By Ale Bodden

cr_vertical_downloadCrunchyroll made stated NYCC with a bang. The panel was hosted by Adam Sheehan; it was combination of announcements, titles, trailers, and trivia questions for the fans to win a free season of Crunchyroll. It started with some serious numbers of what the Anime and Manga channel offers us: over 700 shows, over 23000. He stated they did the math and it equals to a bit over 350 days worth of anime. Subtitles in +7 languages and available in 185 countries.

They shortly moved on to the Fall Season Anime, some of which have premiered:

Izetta, The Last Witch: a heartwarming story set during WWII. Guys, forget brooms – witches fly on rifles now. Saturdays 11:15am.

Bungo Stray Dogs, Season 2. It is a beautifully animated story and every character is based on a literary figure. On season 2 we will be introduced to some western literary characters like F. Scott Fitzgerald… with superpowers. Wednesdays 1:35pm.

Yuri on Ice- the first episode was out on Oct. 5th. It is a sports Anime, centered around being your best. It is based on real ice skaters. If all the trailers showbiz this one was truly stunning! I will need to catch up on it. Wednesdays 1pm.

Magical Girl Raising Project, about a city that has too many magical girls and they must fight to see who will become a "real magical girl." Saturdays 12:15pm.

Nambaka, a colorful anime set in prison. Tuesdays 3:30pm.

And a new Anime brought to you by the creators of Helsing. Drifters, Battle on a Brand New World. It is premiering on Oct. 7th at 4pm. I must say though: it is visually breathtaking so far.

They also announced that Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood is now playing on Crunchyroll. Also a partnership with Funimation to bring fans more entertainment.

Toward the end they announced a surprise guest: LeSean Thomas, whom they will be partnering up with to bring us what looks like an amazing anime in the making. They have been working on it for about a year so far and it will be called CHILD OF ETHER. About a dystopian future in which a girl who is in the run after killing her father by mistake and walked up with powers. So fast the preliminary sketches look great and the creative team behind it is simply amazing (One Punch Man).
