The BBC Is Making A Show About The Creation Of Grand Theft Auto
The BBC have announced that they are working on a 90 minute drama about the Grand Theft Auto series. Before you get too excited and expect to see Michael, Franklin and Trevor running around Los Santos, the show will focus on the creation of the game by Dundee based Rockstar. If you haven't heard the story it's a pretty fascinating one.
The program is part of the new Make It Digital initiative. The BBC said:
The UK is facing a significant skills shortage with 1.4m digital professionals needed over the next five years. BBC Make it Digital will capture the spirit of the BBC Micro, which helped Britain get to grips with the first wave of personal computers in the 1980s, for the digital age. It will put digital creativity in the spotlight like never before, and help build the nation's digital skills, through an ambitious range of new programmes, partnerships and projects.
I can get behind that. The more people working in the sector, which is growing faster than we can even handle, the better. I'm all for new tech and games to help drive the industry forward. Even if making a program about Grand Theft Auto aimed at young people feels a little skewiffy.
