Kevin Hart Gets His Superhero on for Saturday Night Live

Comedian Kevin Hart host the last Saturday Night Live of 2017 and one of the sketches was a Batman and Robin parody, Captain Shadow and Cardinal. The crime fighting duo is defeats a group of bank robbers and are speeding back to the cave when they are pulled over by a cop. Cardinal (Chris Redd) is a bit overly enthusiastic and says the wrong thing a few times… like how he's only 16, is not related to Captain Shadow and they live alone in a cave. This of course leads the officer (Alex Moffat) to ask them to get out of the car.

The sketch feels like a commentary on the 'Driving-while-Black' assertion where African-American drivers are treated with more suspicion than Caucasian drivers. But it take a sudden left turn when the office discovers a bag of white powder in Captain Shadow utility belt. He first claims that it's his "action powder" and it's not what the officer thinks. When a second officer (Kenan Thompson) arrives and tastes the powder and proclaims it to be cocaine, the Captain's story quickly changes to "it's not mine". This leads to him being arrested and Cardinal told to, "call my woman, tell her they got me again."
