James Gunn Explains Why We Won't Be Getting Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Footage Yet
Warner Bros. made a whole bunch of fans happy at SDCC, especially those at home, by releasing everyone of their trailers to the internet yesterday. It was most certainly in response to the fallout from last year, but it seems to have gone over well.
Marvel were less giving, with just a new Doctor Strange trailer escaping their panel. One thing many people would want to see from the panel last night is undoubtedly Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Sadly, it doesn't look like that is going to happen… yet.
Speaking during a livestream on Facebook, director James Gunn explained that while he was okay showing the footage off once to a huge, excited crowd, putting the footage online is a different proposition. Essentially, he explains that the VFX aren't done, and wouldn't hold up to sustained viewing. You can see him make his point in this video:
And you know what? That is fair enough. People, us included, would scour that footage, closely, frame by frame for any details and I can understand how unfinished footage couldn't withstand that like it could in a hall full of fans.
Doesn't mean I don't want to see it though…
