What If You Were A Guest At A Comic Con – And Were Charged For Your Hotel Room Three Months Later?
Sara Richard can mostly be found drawing covers for My Little Pony comic books, Jem And the Holograms, even Deadpool. She's also the Eisner-nominated artist of the Yen Press title Kitty & Dino, as well as Ghostbusters, Vertigo Quarterly and more. She's much in demand. But she's not that happy about a bill she's just received for $378. She writes,
Convention guests who check into hotels at shows often have to give their credit card details to cover any extras they order not covered by the shows they are attending. In this case, it seems Sara is one of a number of guests who have suddenly found themselves billed for the full amount of their hotel room from last November's STXCon that she attended.
STXCon: Brazos Valley 2016 took place in Texas and hosted a wide variety of comic book creators, actors and animators.
Not all guests of STXCon have been subject to this ignominy, but I understand that those who have received such statements of their credit cards include Marvel and DC comic artist Pop Mhan, poster designer Timothy Lim, and actor Randy Havens from Stranger Things.
I understand that agents are checking out who else may be down a wodge of cash and may not have yet realised…
The show organisers have not yet returned e-mails from Bleeding Cool and other concerned individuals report they have also failed to get a response from the individuals in question.
I do hope this can be sorted out quickly and without fuss… advice being given includes to register a chargeback on your credit card, with appearance confirmation to back it up.
