With Heaven On Their Minds, NBC Picks Jesus Christ Superstar For Next Live Musical Broadcast
People are always asking us, "what's the buzz? Tell me what's happening. What's the buzz? Tell me what's happening. What's the buzz? Tell me what's happening. What's the–"
Alright, already! Shut up! We'll tell you!
NBC has chosen Jesus Christ! Superstar! as the next musical they'll reboot with a live performance, according to a report from Variety. There's no cast yet, but NBC is reportedly looking to cast "authentic recording artists" for the show, and we imagine they've got people searching long and hard for the perfect Jesus, the perfect Judas, the perfect Mary, and most importantly, two guys, one with a really high voice, and one with a really low voice, to play Annas and Ciaphas, the high ranking Pharisees and best friends/possible romantic pairing (we ship them) who plot Jesus's demise in glorious song and dance.
First of all, this may be our favorite musical, so don't screw this up, NBC. Secondly, don't even think about changing the awesome 1970s costumes. They should look exactly ****ing like that.
But as long we're on the same page there, and maybe there's something in the bread because we're feeling pretty good about this… this is alright with us.
Jesus Christ Superstar Live doesn't have an airdate yet, so why not just go watch the movie (or listen to the original theater soundtrack with the singer from Deep Purple and Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer's brother).
