Supergirl Season 3: Jesse Rath Comments on Lukewarm Reactions to Brainiac 5

Late last week an extended trailer for the midseason return of Supergirl was released, and we got our first look at Brainiac 5. The character is part of the Legion of Superheroes, also the title for the episode, and in the comics is a green-skinned, blond-haired native of the planet Colu, and claimed to be descended from the original Brainiac — one of Superman's most famous foes. The version we see in the clip played by Jesse Rath (Defiance) looks very little like his comic book counterpart.

Rath took to social media to defend the look of his character, promising fans that he gets better looking through the episode. Adding, "Just wait until I start talking, I'll grow on you." He then linked to the dictionary definition of the word 'turquoise' (a greenish-blue color) and finally posting a picture of the infamous white/gold : blue/black dress claiming it as a behind-the-scenes selfie from the Brainiac 5 makeup test.

I may not be too keen on the look so far, but the actor's sense of humor has won me over.

Supergirl returns Monday, January 15th at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
