Ethan Van Sciver's Stolen Flash Art Turns Up On eBay

At Wondercon, Ethan Van Sciver had artwork stolen from his table, that had been comissioned from him.

And then it turned up on eBay.

The seller, Jim, replied to Ethan saying;

Man Im freaking out. I am a comic fan and father of young kids. Its killing me that this was stolen.
I had to talk my wife to let me go to that comic con with my son ( he got sick due to the sun) becuase I went to c2e2 the week before and It was cool when I found out that there was a comic con out there. Maybe this will help. The guy and his buddy who was with him walked past my kids and myself and the stopped us and asked if I was intrested in a trade and wanted my kids doll and my wristband. Which I thought was weird becuase you couldnt use it again. (Or so I thought). Thats was it. I thought he was being cool and doing it to give my kids. Man I am fan of comics and havent gone to a comic con since the 90s. My kids are alittle older now so I took then to C2E on kids day and everyboy was so cool. We stood in line and the kids got sketchs on comics there. I let them pick the ones the liked so we can frame them. They like the tiny titans ones. So I put the other ones up last night late. Then I put the flash one up. I just checked other auctions up to see how to word it and put it up there. Man I am so freaked out. I have another question. Do you think it is ok to sell the other sketches that my kids got from C2E2? I am soooo sorry. Man. If you know me you would know I would never ever sell something stolen. When I get home I will pack it up and send to you ASAP priority mail.

However his other items, exclusive pieces from C2E2 and past San Diegos as well as other convention sketch items indicate that conventions seemed less of a one off decision on vacation, and more a business opportunity.

Also the thieves were described by peopleat the show as one man and his young kid, rather tghan two men.

Either way, whatever the circumstances, Ethan Van Sciver got his art sent back to him. A rare but happy ending. And that's where we let this one go…
