Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 14th August 2016 – All-Star Batman Gets A Perfect Score
This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.
It is incredibly rare that every retailer who sends their details into Bleeding Cool has the same top selling title, even when it's something obvious like Civil War II #1 or DC Universe Rebirth. One store will have a Deadpool or a Star Wars that was suddenly more successful that week.
This week though for everyone, there was only one book.
- 1. All Star Batman #1
- 2. Flash #4
- 3. Detective Comics #938
- 4. Wonder Woman #4
- 5. Deathstroke Rebirth #1
- 6. Action Comics #961
- 7. Darth Vader #24
- 8. Red Hood and the Outlaws #1
- 9. Superwoman #1
- 10.Black Panther #5
Thanks to the following retailers,
- Rodman Comics of Ankeny, Iowa
- Graham Crackers Comics – 10 Locations throughout Illinois & Wisconsin
- Issues Needed Comics, Apple Valley, Minnesota
- Dr. No's Comics & Games Superstore of Marietta, Georgia
- Yesteryear Comics of San Diego, California
- Fat Jack's Comicrypt of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Who had this to say
DC shipped ten Rebirth titles this week, and DC took the top ten sales spots in our store. Star Wars & Civil War II both fell to the Rebirth juggernaut.
Good sales week. All Star Batman 1 was the best seller. I read it and I loved it. Scott Snyder is great with Batman. Darth Vader 24 came in second. Not sure if talk of him being in the upcoming Rogue One movie has renewed interest or what. Though Darth Vader 24 was a solid read. As a fan and retailer I really like the book and will miss it after the next issue that went from coming out this month to coming out in October? That is a long delay. Superwoman is a surprise hit. Other than Amazing Spider-man cracking the top ten along with Darth Vader Marvel isn't selling here at the moment thanks to Rebirth getting all the attention. Marvel's re launch can't get here fast enough.
Strong interest in Preacher back issues, as well as early Deathstroke appearances.
Rebirth is still the story with a strong debut for All Star Batman, Deadthstroke and Superwoman. Unfortunately Marvel's free fall is also still the story Black Panther and the Accused were DOA. It looks like all Marvel has going for them is Deadpool and what event they have going on (the main event story that is no cares about the peripheral books they offer to go along with it) . Black Monday Murders outsold the majority of Marvel books and provided us another strong Image book that is destined to sell forever in TPB form.
Everyone picked up All Star Batman #1 this week – and anyone that was not aware of it, was told about it and gave it a shot! I believe they will all be pleased.
All Star Batman #1 was the top book of the week and even though other books did really well…it just made it seem worse since the numbers ratio in many cases was 5-1.
Back-Issue market was all over the place with no rhyme or reason. If i had to pick one title it would be Robocop since i got bought out completely.
