DC Comics is starting a new program called Essential Reads and their kicking it off with one of my all-time favorite stories, Batman: Hush by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. Hush was a 12-part mystery that ran through the Batman comic and not only introduced one of the best new villains into Batman's rogues gallery, but also revitalized most of the other villains including Joker, Riddler, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy as well as strengthened the relationship between him and Catwoman. I personally liked the series so much that I bought one of the original art pages from it.
To get folks interested, DC is giving away one of the chapters from Hush digitally for a week here.
This program will continue with other DC Essential Reads, 25 in all according to their blog.
