Lenny The Lettuce Breaks Out Of The Beano As A Self-Published Comic
Coming at the end of May, I'll be self-publishing an all-new Lenny the Lettuce Summer Special! Lenny first found fame two years ago in the pages of the BEANO no less, but since then he's taken a back-seat to my more recent work. Well, back-seat no more as the BEANO have given me the ok to do some new comics with the character and this is the result. A 24 page comic packed full of bright green ALL-AGES goofiness, pushing the character and his world further this time around. One of the things I didn't get chance to do was create a world for Lenny to exist in, so this special I've redesigned him slightly, introduced a cast of back up characters and he's even got a job. He works at a shop called 'Remote possibilities' with his friend Sally (brother of my character Mel from Aces Weekly's 'Duckless') that only sells remote controls! I wanted to create a comic that had the same life, energy and insanity of Ren and Stimpy, SpongeBob and more recently Pig Goat Banana Cricket, so very visual and very crazy!
The comic will also be my first ever RISOGRAPH print job, as I'm working in association with the Print Mill in Macclesfield, who are keen to work with local artists on all manner of projects. I'm also hoping to either launch the comic at a local greengrocers, where locals can also pick-up a copy too!
See for yourselves when the comic arrives on May 27th and pre-order a copy by emailing me on yowsa@marcmakescomics.co.uk
Here's a 3-page preview!
