Local Comic Shop Day On November 19th 2016 – The Week Before Small Business Saturday

Image (2)Last year, the comic retailer activist group ComicsPRO ran Local Comic Shop Day on the same Saturday as Small Business Saturday.

This year they are running it the weekend before.

ComicsPRO President Peter Dolan said "we polled participating retailers if they preferred to have Local Comic Shop Day® on November 19th or November 26th. By a margin of 73% to 27%, our retailers wanted to change the date to the earlier Saturday so it would have a distinct identity separate from Small Business Saturday."

The event saw stores sell exclusive variant covers and exclusive hardcovers and collections of certain titles. Bleeding Cool gave the event, spread over almost 400 comic stores, extensive coverage.

This year they are expecting more participating publishers and retailers, and registration will begin at the end of the month.

But it it too close to Diamond's October Hallowe'en Comicfest event?
