We've been talking about it for so long. It has more retailer variants than any other comic until next month's Absolute Batman #20. But right here, right now, and the first few pages of Absolute Batman #19 by Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta for the 15th of April, 2026, from DC Comics… Part One of The Straw Man. And it begins in Smallville… or at least somewhere a lot like it.
Sixteen-panel page to kick things off. And a Scarecrow who knows who people are and what information to bring to the surface… or which crows to scare into the air…
Eleven panels, with blood above and below, the Scarecrow getting people to do his dirty work for him. I mean, if you are employed to kill someone – or just like doing it for fun – it's so much easier to get people to do it themselves. And people are always willing, especially in the moment. Afterwards, well… that's for afterwards, right?
Ten panels. A murder of passion followed by a tragic accident. And the Scarecrow gets to walk away… whistling…
Half a panel a page. Scott Snyder says that the Absolute Scarecrow has killed more people than anyone. This is how. And, we know that there is a major death coming to Gotham, as the solicits to #20 tell us…
