Now Marvel Legacy Announces 1960 T-Shirt Variant Covers. We Try To Work Out What That Means.

We get the announcement. That Marvel Comics, as part of their Marvel Legacy promotion, are to run T-Shirt Variant covers of a number of their first Marvel Legacy titles. And that they will feature retro-style art from Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko.

By which I think they mean, actual art by Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko from the period. So it is actual retro, rather than retro-style. And, I guess, printed so they look like they are on T-Shirts. Just no cloth covers. At least I presume not, who knows? Of course there weren't that many Marvel T-shirts in the sixties… is this more hipster shirts from today featuring 1960's artwork? And a photo of them on the cover? With or without the beard honing into view?

We'll try and work out more at a later date. Here are the comics getting the 1960s T-Shirt treatment…

1. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #789
2. AVENGERS #672
3. INCREDIBLE HULK #709
4. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #593
5. MIGHTY THOR #700
6. X-MEN: BLUE #13
7. DAREDEVIL #595
8. MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE #1
9. DOCTOR STRANGE #381
