One Stop Comics of Illinois Would Like to Keep Going
One Stop Comics of Oak Parks, Illinois is, like many comic books, shut down due to the current global situation. However while some are looking to open again at the soonest opportunity, One Stop Comics may not be able to without a little extra assistance. Which is why, like Forbidden Planet New York, they have launched a GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign to stay in business, although at a smaller scale. With a goal of $20,000, 6% of Forbidden Planet's goal, One Stop Comics has currently raised $2,823, and doesn't have the comics celebrity donations that FP NYC enjoys. Maybe that might change after this Bleeding Cool article? Ricky Manzella of One Stop writes.
Oak Parks One Stop Comics is, like many direct market comic book retailers around the country, closed due to coronavirus. But with expenses mounting and revenue essentially frozen, the store is turning to GoFundMe to raise the money to stay open for business.
Since the beginning of the current crisis, I have worked from home to help maintain the store's business and customer relationships and organize a way to come back from all of this The sad truth of the matter is that nothing will be the same for some time, but we need to ensure that One Stop Comics needs #smallbusinessrelief to reopen when the time comes. To do that we are humbly asking for your assistance in keeping One Stop Comics on its feet.
We've gone a month with zero revenue coming in and massive expenses going out. Rent, utilities, and other bills have added up quickly. The cost of doing business in Oak Park IL is Expensive. Rick has been working on a website for mail order, but honestly this will yield just a small portion of what is needed to keep us viable. Even when we're able to open again we will face enormous challenges amidst the continuing epidemic. Safety of our customers will be of paramount concern When we are able to open again. We understand that things are tough and other good causes in this time of need abound, but we ask that you help in any way you can. Even if it's just by sharing this campaign.
Can you help? A small gift would make a big difference.
