Speculator Corner: Ranger Slayer Drives Go Go Power Rangers #8
Bleeding Cool mentioned that folk might want to pick up the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book ever since Shattered Grid was announced and our spies started hearing something notable was coming.
We told you when Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25 sold out before it hits stores. It will go to a second printing, available on the 25th April, alongside the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 2018 Annual.
Some retailers have said they sold hundreds of copies in minutes when the doors opened. It might be the week that Saga #50 and some big Marvel/DC books hit, but every retailer is talking about BOOM! Studios bringing in the customers. And how they've probably under-ordered issue #26.
But now Saban's Go Go Power Rangers #8, a prelude to Shattered Grid, has also sold out at Diamond with some strong reorders once BOOM! Studios revealed the Ranger Slayer is indeed (SPOILERS) Kimberly Hart, the Pink Power Ranger, during their WonderCon panel (which is the gift that keeps giving with their sellouts this week)
You remember the last time BOOM! Studios introduced a dark version of a beloved Ranger? That was Lord Drakkon in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #9 in 2016 and a second printing sells for close to $60.
But this is a prelude to the biggest crossover event they've seen in 2018 and had a smaller print run than Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25, which sees standard covers selling for $25. There's already plenty of cosplay and fan art for the Ranger Slayer, so just how high could the price go on this kind of first appearance?
Might be worth tracking down any remaining copies at your stores. Issue #9 hits stores in May right before Free Comic Book Day… which will feature a free Shattered Grid tie-in for all new readers coming to stores.
