New Horror-Comedy About The London Riots Features Kevin Bishop As A Cycling Psychopathic Cop

New Horror-Comedy About The London Riots Features Kevin Bishop As A Cycling Psychopathic CopWe probably all knew that the London riots would be honoured on the big screen at some point, but I doubt this was the first thing you would have thought of.

It's called May I Kill U, and it stars Kevin Bishop as a policeman who loses grip on his sanity during the riots and sets off on his bicycle, killing criminals along the way, filming it on his helmetcam, uploading the videos to social media sites for the delight of all. It was written and directed by Stuart Urban, and principal photography began yesterday.

From what we've heard, the film is going to be an exploration of how a vigilante killer might interact with the world of Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, and the unpleasant idea that, safe on the internet, the general public would cheer for the deaths of those pesky hoodies.

Setting it against the backdrop of the riots is a bold move, and you can guarantee that at least one person out there will and probably already has accused the film of being in bad taste. Whether you think the riots were the sudden and violent outpouring of frustration from a generation of disillusioned youth having their futures ripped away from them by the indifference of society and short-sighted government policy, or just a bunch of idiots trying to nick a plasma TV without getting caught, it'll be interesting to see the story done as a comedy.

Starring alongside comedian Kevin Bishop are Frances Barber (Madam "Eye Patch" Kovarian from Doctor Who) and Jack Doolan (The Green Green Grass).

Interesting bit of trivia: Stuart Urban also directed a few episodes of The Bill back on the 90s. I say we should set PC Tony Stamp on those damn dirty hoodies, he'd bitch slap the lot of them with his truncheon and get them all back to Sun Hill single-handed in time for a cup of tea and a biscuit.
