Spirou Leads Low Charge Digital Books In Europe

Spirou Leads Low Charge Digital Books In EuropeThe recent move into rented digital download comics in Europe that has caused such a storm with creators, has taken a new leap this weekend.

Spirou Et Fantasio, possibly one of the highest selling comic book series of all time, with over fifty best-selling graphic novels, has released a classic version, digitally, at a discount. 2 Euros to download the new 64 page book – and then keep forever. That's £1.66. Or $2.42. With nine or ten panels a page, that's a lot of storytelling for a little money.

The expected price in this fashion for Le Faiseur D'Or would be €4.99. This is widely being interpreted as a test of the market, against pirate competition.

Whatever the motivation, it is possible that other publishers may feel pressured to follow suit soon.
