Christmas is coming, the fanboy's getting fat

If you haven't got an omnibus an absolute will do.

If you haven't got an absolute, then get out of my mother's basement you freeloader!

That's right, 'tis the season to be jolly well giving the postman a hernia. And ahere are a few items to help him break his back and slip on your frost covered drive.

1. Xenezoic by Mark Schultz. All the Cadillacs & Dinosaurs/Xenoxoic Tales in one big 400 page softcover volume. Oh yes oh yes oh yes.

2. Grandville and Grandville Mon Amour by Bryan Talbot from Jonathan Cape/Dark Horse. The anthropormophic steampunk mixmatch of Sherlock Holmes and James Bond. Impossible to disappoint anyone with this hardcover set – unless they already have it.

3. Absolute All Star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely from DC. Is it a great Superman story or the greatest Superman story?

4. Darwyn Cooke's The Outfit from IDW. The sequel to his first Parker book, The Hunter. And just as bloody good.

5. Icons: The DC Comics & Wildstorm Art of Jim Lee. A bit of a swansong for Wildstorm here. And it'll keep you going until Batman: Hush Unwrapped.

6. Bryan Hitch's Ultimate Comics Studio. A big collection of his Marvel stuff and new work. Big. Like, with big thick pages,

7. Pandora's Eyes by co-writer of Life Is Beautiful, Vincenzo Cerami and the legendary Milo Manara, from Humanoids.

8. The Art Of Todd McFarlane – The Devil's In The Details from Image. 300 pages of oversized, hardcovered art from Todd McFarlane, including many shot-from-artboard pages.

9. The second Batman And Robin hardcover by Grant Morrison, Andy Clarke and Cameron Stewartfrom DC Comics to join the first.

10. Paul Levitz' The Art Of Modern Mythmaking massive hardcover as part of DC's 75th Anniversary line. 720 pages worth. So intrigued about what he will say – and what he won't.

11. Jim Starlin: A Life In Words And Pictures from IDW. Exactly what it says on the tin.

12. The new Walking Dead paperback by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard from Image – or get contributions towards the third compendium in January.

13. Grant Morrison Talking With Gods DVD. Okay, not a comic. But I'm in this. But also don't let that put you off, it's only about thirty seconds. Buy it for Grant Morrison, stay for the Jill Thompson stories.

14. Project Superpowers Christmas Special from Dynamite. Ho ho ho.

15. A Single Match by Oji Suzuki. A collection of short stories by onwe of Tokyo's greats, from Drawn And Quarterly.

16. The Extraordinary Adventures Of Adele Blanc-Sec by Jacques Tardi from Fantagraphics. Now a major French motion picture. But always a great comic book.

17. Usagi Yojimbo: The Special Edition, a 1200 page collection of the samurai rabbit series by Stan Sakai, from Fantagraphics. 1200 pages folks. That's sixty issues worth in one book…

18. The Art Of Vampirella. Lots of art. Lots of Vampirella. From some of the greatest comic book and poster artists around.

19. The Rocketeer Artist Edition. Dave Steven's original artwork, reproduced as exactly as possible to resemble the look and feel of the original art boards, and the birth of a new format from Absolute creator Scott Dunbier.

20. Stay Puft Caffeinated Marshmallows. Not a comic. But I don't care, they're expensive and they'll make you fat. And keep you up until the new year. You know, until these were announced, I always presumed that Stay Puft was a real brand…
