Rob Liefeld Will Never Sign Spider-Man/Deadpool #47, the First Appearance of Major X?
This is page three of Spider-Man/Deadpool #47, published on March 13th.
Let's zoom in.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is the first appearance of new Rob Liefeld character Major X. Alexander Nathaniel Summers, cross-time son of Cable. Stepbrother of Hope. Grandson of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor. Grand-nephew of Havok, all that.
And with Major X #1 already doing well on the aftermarket – the 1:25 cover selling for up to $90 raw, and settling around $55, and the standard cover selling for $10 to $14 apiece, Spider-Man/Deadpool #47 has shot up and is selling copies on eBay for up to $35 each.
Will it count as the character's first appearance? Rob Liefeld doesn't think so.
To the extent that he states he will never sign a copy of Spider-Man/Deadpool #47…
Challenge accepted?
He looks to a couple of exclusive variant covers he paid Marvel to commission himself to do and sell from his online store for $100 for the set, for Deadpool #10 that was published a week before Spider-Man/Deadpool #47 (which he had nothing to do with.)
However, they just had the good Major on the cover, not on the insides. And they weren't available industry-wide. And from all accounts, those who ordered them didn't receive them when Spider-Man/Deadpool #47 was published. However, Rob did have them for sale at ECCC – on March 14th, the day after Spider-Man/Deadpool #47 was published.
The debate continues…
