San Diego Comic-Con's first official cruise has been reconfirmed for the 5th to the 9th of February, 2025. But not in San Diego, instead it's sailing from Tampa, Florida, to Cozumel in Mexico on the Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas as Comic-Con: The Cruise, The Ultimate Fan Adventure.
Guest Host Felicia Day along with Warwick Davis, George Takei, Ernie Hudson, Mary McDonnell, Michael Trucco, Robb Pearlman and more, will entertain two thousand attendees, paying from around a thousand dollars per person and include all lodging, meals, performances, interviews, parties, and events presented on the cruise. It promises "screenings, panels, photo opps, nightly shows, themed cosplay parties, exclusive performances, meet-and-greets, games, book clubs, karaoke, and meaningful interactive, one-on-one experiences that take place from early morning to the wee hours of the night that make this uniquely Comic-Con: The Cruise. Expect the unexpected as you rub shoulders with iconic and beloved Comic-Con stars and experience a vibrant community of the most passionate fans across the globe."
"You'll have the opportunity to see a lot more things you want to see because there's fewer people and also a more relaxed environment," said San Diego Comic-Con spokesperson David Glanzer, describing some of the ways the cruise will be different from the traditional convention. And that SDCC is frequently approached for brand partnerships, but they started seriously considering a cruise after hearing reviews about the annual Star Trek: The Cruise, produced by Entertainment Cruise Productions.
The Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas also offers pool deck parties, Vegas-style casino, arcade, billiards room, a rock-climbing wall and a spas. With performances in the Main Theater, panels in unique venues all around the ship, game shows, and numerous bars and lounges.
No they haven't invited me yet, and we're also hoping for a comic book artist or three, but there is still time. Rick Geary has a new Comic-Con Toucan logo for the event.
