As well as writing lots and lots of comic books, from Batman to Wytches to more Batman to Undiscovered Country, to even more Batman, to Nocterra, Scott Snyder also teaches writing. At NYU, Columbia University, Sarah Lawrence, DC Comics' Talent Workshop and on Substack. And now Scott Snyder Presents: The Cloak Room is an anthology created by those very students of Scott Snyder. The anthology is being curated by Jerry Carita, an alumni of Scott Snyder, and also a producer of the TV series Comic Book Men. And now they are crowdfunding their second issue…
"SCOTT SNYDER PRESENTS: THE CLOAKROOM is an anthology series, now releasing its second issue. This exciting series collects comics spanning all genres, created by top-level, up-and-coming talent Scott Snyder's writing workshop, operated through his Our Best Jackett Substack. These two issues are edited by Veronica Howell and Jerry Carita (Cicada Samurai, Comic Book Men) with stories by rising stars Anna Papij, Ryan Crowe, Matt Salisbury, JB Hawkins, Dan Brady, and Will Paul. Many of the creators in the series were guided by Snyder, who consulted on many of the stories throughout the series. SCOTT SNYDER PRESENTS: THE CLOAKROOM hits Kickstarter this week, and you can still pick up the first issue in this campaign, as well as both volumes of the series' predecessor – that's over 350 pages of comics!
"Of all the projects we do at Thorny Comics, The CloakRoom is nearest to my heart," said series editor and publisher, Jerry Carita. "The creators are often new to comics work, and this project gives them a chance to get published, often for the first time in their careers. It's incredibly rewarding work, and Veronica and I are excited to keep it going for as long as we can. The series has, so far, featured cover and interior art by Matt Salisbury, Les Lindon Garner, Nick Justus, Seraji, Pablo Verdugo, Jimmy Kucaj, and many other incredibly talented rising art stars. This is the just the second of at least five planned issues of the series. The next issue will be released this holiday season, and will feature a holiday theme with fun/engrossing/and possibly gross stories about Christmas, Passover, Halloween, etc."
They have currently raised $786 against a goal of $5,000 goal from 31 backers with 27 days to go.
