Who Is Doctor Hate? (Beast World & Amanda Waller Speculatory Spoilers)

Doctor Hate is a sorcerer agent of the Lords of Chaos working with Amanda Waller and the Council of Light. But who is he really? Or... she?

Doctor Hate is a sorcerer and agent of the Lords of Chaos working with Amanda Waller and the Council of Light. first revealed at the end of the Knight Terrors event.

And Doctor Hate using the Nightmare Stone and the Helmet of Hate to further the cause of Chaos in exchange for assistance in Waller's schemes.

With an identity cloaked in mystery. Doctor Hate wears the Helmet of Hate crafted from an Nth metal fragment of the original Helmet of Fate and can manipulate Chaos Magic for a variety of purposes.

Now in Beast World, we have seen Doctor Hate involved with the corruption of Dreamer…

And taking on The Kingdom…

…not that it went entirely to plan. Or at least not to Doctor Hate's plan. amanda Waller, however continued to play the long game.

Now in Beast World, with Beast Boy taking down a Starro, Waller had Doctor Hate repress Beast Boy's mind, and cause him to spread his own Starro/Garro spores across the world, furthering her campaign of hate against superheroes.  While the Nightmare Stone was able to send Beast Boy's conscious mind to sleep, leaving behind only the beast.

Beast Boy recognized Doctor Hate without his helmet, and folk have referred to Doctor Hate using male pronouns, but might there be a switch?  Here's where I am going with this. Speculatory spoilers on. Because it's in the name, Doctor Hate. The opposite of love. And something that seems very personal to the Teen Titans. Beast World emphasised the love between Beast Boy and Raven, something underlined repeatedly, and motivation for much of Raven's actions against Amanda Waller.

So, given that Beast Boy recognises Doctor Hate, might this be linked? Today's Beast World #4 by Tom Taylor and Lucas Meyer sees Doctor Hate go up against Raven, as Amanda Waller needs someone to, well…

… distract her.

And why choose Hate? Could Doctor Hate be the opposite of Raven, but know her so well, including her Trigon origins? Someone set free by the Nightmare Stone and defined by the Helmet Of Hate? Could Doctor Hate be the demon from within Raven's soul gem? And looking just like Raven to Beast Boy? If so, might female pronouns be more appropriate going forward? If so, Beast World won't tell you. Not yet, anyway. But Nightwing #106, also written by to Taylor, may have suggested it already…

She's out. What do you reckon? And will we have to wait a month to find out???
