Why Conan Should Have Never Joined the Avengers in This Week's No Road Home #8
It seems like it was just last year that Marvel regained the license to publish Conan the Barbarian comics… probably because it was just last year that Marvel regained the license to publish Conan the Barbarian comics… But the House of Ideas has thrown caution to the wind, adding the titular Barbarian to every comic they possibly can! You've got Conan the Barbarian, Savage Sword of Conan, Age of Conan: Belit, and coming soon, Savage Avengers. But Conan has also joined the Avengers team in the currently weekly mini-series, Avengers: No Road Home, as you can see in this preview of this week's Avengers: No Road Home #8.
Some might say this is a bad idea, due to potential Conan overexposure, not that Marvel has ever listened to those kinds of concerns. Some might say this will make reprints in the future tricky if Marvel ever loses the license again. But there's another reason why stretching Conan too thin might be a bad idea… maybe it's just too much for the poor guy!
As you can see, Conan has found himself in a difficult situation in this week's issue. And you can't blame him for not being at the top of his game. Appearing in som many books is hard. Just look what happened to Wolverine a few years ago! And now, it seems Conan may be about to pay the ultimate price…
Or not. He does have the Avengers to get his back… though they're not looking in such great shape either.
All we're saying is, this was a close call. Maybe Conan should take a lesson from this and take it easy? Just 3 or 4 monthly comics, tops. At least until he's gotten the hang of things.
