X-O Manowar #50 Gets Huge with Djurdjevic, Rivera, Francavilla, and More
Last week, Valiant rolled out news that 50 artists had signed on for the largest jam cover in comics history for September's X-O Manowar #50.
And today they're keeping the X-O Manowar #50 news coming with first word on the interiors for the oversized, 64-page "anniversary milestone" that will also double as a series finale for writer Robert Venditti's acclaimed 56-issue run the title that relaunched Valiant in a big, big way.
One of just a handful of independent titles to each #50 in recent years, the publisher is calling the issue "the most important Valiant milestone of all time" and, today, revealed new covers for the issue by a murderer's row that includes Daredevil's Paolo Rivera, Thor's Marko Djurdjevic, The Private Eye's Marcos Martin, Bloodshot Reborn's Mico Suayan, Afterlife with Archie's Francesco Francavilla and Superman: Earth One's Shane Davis.
Not to be outdone, they've also revealed the full interior line-up for the issue… Rounding out the final chapter of the final "Long Live the King" story arc by Robert Venditti, Joe Bennett, and Roberto de la Torre, Valiant is also getting nearly every artist from the modern run on the series – Cary Nord, Doug Braithwaite, Diego Bernard, Rafa Sandoval, and Robert Gill – for a final send-off.
And then Jody Houser and Javier Pulido, Matt Kindt and Tomas Giorello, and Philip Tan will also be providing "tales and tributes"… Not a bad way to send off one of the longest running superhero series in recent years, no?
But have no fear.. this likely isn't the end of the road for X-O Manowar altogether. Valiant also promises that the issue will have major ramifications on upcoming "adventures yet to come in 2017 and beyond" — he does have a 25th anniversary coming up next year after all!
And don't forget – you might just be able to score some original art that they're secretly bagging in each issue too…
