WWE May Be Bringing Back the Great American Bash Again

It looks like WWE is planning to do something with the name Great American Bash again, possibly using it for a new PPV event. According to a report from PWInsider, WWE has trademarked the name, which it last used in 2012 for a specially branded episode of SmackDown that featured the historic Battle Royal to determine next week's Guest General Manager (it was Zack Ryder) (spoiler alert). Okay, maybe we're getting a little carried away there, but the Bash does have some classic matches in its history, though mainly from the era when it was a WCW PPV, or before that, under Jim Crockett Promotions.

Wrestling fans will be glad to see the PPV name return, as WWE has stubbornly refused to use lots of perfectly great WCW names, seemingly out of spite alone, as many of WWE's current PPV names are lackluster (we're looking at you, Fast Lane). Halloween Havoc is another one that could stand to make a return, replacing the dumb Hell in the Cell October PPV, which forces all of the big storylines to coincidentally require Hell in the Cell matches that month.

Of course, WWE might be planning to do something else with the name, like hold a star-studded house show that they refuse to air on the WWE Network, as they did with Starrcade. We'll have to wait and see.
