Adventure Time: Distant Lands Preview Clip Teases BMO Tale
On the creative side, Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward has a pretty exciting 2020 to look forward to. In a few days, Ward and comedian Duncan Trussell's adult animated series The Midnight Gospel makes its debut on Netflix. Co-created and executive produced by Ward and Trussell, the animated series is based on interview clips from Trussell's podcast Duncan Trussell Family Hour. But even with new projects coming to life, Ward hasn't forgotten about the adventures of unlikely heroes Finn and Jake. HBO Max announced last year that Ward and the team would be heading to WarnerMedia's new streaming service for a series of four, one-hour specials under the banner of Adventure Time: Distant Lands. With two specials tentatively scheduled to premiere in 2020 (barring any delays due to production shutdowns), the specials continue the tales of Adventure Time that captured imaginations and introduced viewers' best buds, who travel across and throughout the mystical Land of Ooo with a family of colorful characters that millions around the world have grown to love.
Here's what viewers can expect from the four specials, which look to kick off this year with a chapter focusing on lovable little robot "BMO" (as you'll see in the teaser below). When there's a deadly space emergency in the farthest reaches of the galaxy, there's only one hero to call, and it's probably not BMO. Except that this time it is. Meanwhile, "Obsidian" spotlights Marceline and Princess Bubblegum as they journey to the imposing, beautiful Glass Kingdom (and deep into their tumultuous past) to prevent an earthshaking catastrophe. Over at "Wizard City," we follow Peppermint Butler as he starts over at the beginning: just another inexperienced Wizard School student. When mysterious events at the campus cast suspicion on Pep and his checkered past, can he master the mystic arts in time to prove his innocence? Finally, "Together Again" brings Finn and Jake together one more time, as they rediscover their brotherly bond while embarking on the most important and lasting adventure of their lives.
