Bestselling author Michael Connelly's literary universe continues to make successful jumps to the small screen. We've got Prime Video's Maggie Q-starring Ballard returning for a second season and production underway on the prequel series Bosch: Start of Watch. Over on the Netflix side, the streamer recently announced that the Manuel Garcia-Rulfo-starring The Lincoln Lawyer had been given the green light for a fifth and final season. Of course, who can forget Titus Welliver's Harry Bosh, who made his return during the first season of Ballard. Could it be time for Bosch and Garcia-Rulfo's Mickey Haller to have an on-screen team-up, too? While fans have made it clear that they would love to see it, Connelly isn't holding out much hope considering the two big names involved.

Checking in with Roger Deakins and James Deakins, hosts of The Deakins Podcast (which you can check out above), Connelly was asked how much easier it is to have his characters cross over within the literary world than to invent new characters or situations to get around the Prime Video/Netflix issues with the live-action series. "Yeah, I mean it's sad because I think that's one of the cool things about the books. But I think we gotta solve world peace, and then we'll get Netflix and Amazon to agree to something. Yeah, it's never going to happen," Connelly shared, not exactly exuding confidence that we will be getting a Mickey/Harry team-up any time soon.
The author continued, "And so, you know, we make do. I mean, the first season of Lincoln Lawyer is based on a book that had Harry Bosch almost as an antagonist to Mickey Haller. So, we cast somebody else and gave him a different name. And that's what we have to do where we have those direct connections and books. We just can't do it. You know, it was funny, last year when we were filming one episode of 'Ballard,' but Bosch was in the episode, we were a block from where they were filming 'Lincoln Lawyer' and our base camps were next to each other. So we did have Mickey and Harry, the TV versions of these guys, eat and hug it out and sit down and have a little discussion, but it will never end up on the screen."
