Hulu is set to traverse the murky waters of mystery with their upcoming series Death and Other Details, starring Violett Beane and Mandy Patinkin in a twist-filled narrative that's part luxe sea voyage, part cerebral crime-solving. The series, which began its life under the title Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem, has since banked on its ensemble cast and unique setting to hook an audience eager for a modern take on classic whodunits.

From the minds of Heidi Cole McAdams (The 100) and Mike Weiss (Chicago P.D., The Mentalist), Death and Other Details promises a tale brimming with suspense and turbulent high society spectacle. McAdams and Weiss, the architects of deception on screen here, aim to modernize the likes of Agatha Christie's atmospheric touchstones for the new series.

The premise revolves around Imogene Scott, portrayed by The CW's The Flash star Violett Beane, who finds herself entangled in a locked room murder mystery aboard a sumptuously refurbished Mediterranean ocean liner. Amid the conundrum, she's pegged as the prime suspect and must ally with the one individual she loathes to clear her name, a process that becomes a gargantuan intellectual puzzle, as it turns out. The reluctant partnership is formed with sleuth Rufus Cotesworth, a role well suited for the acclaimed Mandy Patinkin. Adding flavor to this recipe are Lauren Patten, Rahul Kohli, Angela Zhou, Hugo Diego Garcia, Pardis Saremi, and Linda Emond, who flesh out the rest of the principal cast caught in the web of subterfuge and revelation.

In a trailer shrouded with appeals to the viewer's own detective instincts, the audience is beckoned to "pay attention" as the cryptic voice of Patinkin takes us through a montage of glances, whispers, and precarious encounters. This brief yet compelling teaser clues us into the series' tone and gravity, hinting at a narrative that contrasts the opulence of its setting with the potential darkness lurking in each character.

Death and Other Details extends its intrigue over a 10-episode maiden voyage, setting sail with our protagonist Imogene at the helm of the enigma. Her journey from suspect to sleuth runs in tandem with the show's ensemble as they navigate through a sea of deception. The early episodes promise to tantalize with forbidden investigations, interpersonal deceit, and the looming overwatch of Interpol's stern eye.
