"The Witcher": Henry Cavill Reads "The Last Wish" Because You Made Netflix's "Nice" List [VIDEO]

Fans of the upcoming The Witcher adaptation from Netflix have been receiving a steady wave of looks at the series, from key art and images to a teaser that had them feeling (cautiously) optimistic for Henry Cavill's (Justice League) turn as Geralt. Then the trailer hit (more on that below), and suddenly fans found themselves anxiously counting the days down until The Witcher hits the streaming service on December 20th.

With a week to go, the fine folks at The Witcher and Netflix are taking a break from taking us behind the scenes to show some love and appreciation for Andrzej Sapkowski's novels. Very few ways to do that better than by having Cavill introduce viewers to Geralt's world through a reading from The Last Wish – and that's exactly what viewers got.

So dim the lights… silence your phones… draw a warm bath… pour yourself a little "something-something"… and enjoy:

Now that Cavill's set the mood, here a look back at the main and final official trailer for Netflix's The Witcher:

Based on the best-selling series of fantasy novels, The Witcher tells an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward Yennefer (Anya Cholatra), a powerful sorceress, and Ciri (Freya Allan), a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

Now here's an introduction to our main players: Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri aka Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan):

The folks at The Witcher were kind enough to reveal the titles of all eight chapters last month in the following video (followed by a list of the chapter titles and the Twitter teases that were included):

Created by Lauren S. Hissrich and based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, the upcoming fantasy series features Cavill's Geralt wielding some serious steel of his own as he struggles to survive and find his place in a world where the monsters he hunts can be far less dangerous than the people around him.
