Today, A Major DC Comic Book Character Dies – And Not Necessarily The One You Were Expecting (SPOILERS)

STL016987We are not talking about Detective Comics #940. That will come next.

I remember when I first reviewed the Suicide Squad movie, I was criticised for mentioning that characters died in the film. I countered with the observation that, hey, it was called Suicide Squad. That should be a given.

And while that's true, and in both the comics and the film, major characters have died along the way, there has been a core of those who have not. The old reliables. The trusted compadres. Those who you can bet will be returning next issue.

Well, writer Rob Williams and artist Jim Lee have ensured with this issue that no bets are off the table. Everyone is potentially marked for death. No one is safe. Possibly not even Harley.

Though it's not Harley.

Not this time.

Image (90)  Ouchie.Image (91)Yes, folks, that is the death of Captain Boomerang. A key component of the Suicide Squad, as vital to the team as Amanda Waller, and intentionally making the Captain Boomerang back-up story by Williams and Ivan Reis as poignant as all hell.

Oh and how did he die? At whose hands? Go on, pick it up and see why this issue is about to blow out of every comic store in the land…

And Captain Boomerang? He'll probably come back. It's what he's best at.
