Where Is Tony Stark After Civil War II? (SPOILERS)

Invincible Iron Man #1 is published in November from Marvel Comics.

It features Riri Williams taking on the role of Iron Man, but still in her originated costume and without a decent AI to help her use it.

But where is Tony Stark? After all, we know that Doctor Doom is taking over a similar role in Infamous Iron Man #1 out next week.

So where is Tony Stark? In copies of Invincible Iron Man #1 shown to retailers at New York Comic Con, I understand that the book opens with Riri Williams saying, quite plainly, that Tony Stark, Iron Man, is no more, That he is gone.  And I don't just mean he's gone to India…. we learn later that his body isn't working anymore. What that actually means is not explored.

Is this something spinning out of the increasingly-late Civil War II? Is it going to be utterly spoiled by the new Iron Man comic? Will Marvel one day finish the event comic before the relaunch that is meant to spin out of it?

No.
