Did Tom King Channel Brian Bolland For Nightwing's Fate In Batman #55 (Spoilers)
Brian Bolland may be best known in Batman lore as the artist on The Killing Joke. Which another Batman comic is taking to heart today. But in recent collections of The Killing Joke, they have added a back-up strip, 'An Innocent Guy', the story that Brian Bolland wrote and drew for Batman Black & White, now in colour.
About a young man with a plan to make an impact on the world.
Who has everything they need to follow it through.
And who Batman – anyone – could never suspect.
He's still out there, planning.
In today's Batman #55 by Tom King, Tony Daniel, Danny Miki and Tomeu Morey, we have a story in which Batman and Nightwing are up to hijinks on the rooftops of Gotham, with Nightwing insistent on finding joy in their endeavours. But all the time, another story is playing out.
The KGBeast is in town. Back in July, Tom King told Entertainment Weekly that 'We're going to turn KGBeast into the scariest villain in the DC Universe.' Russian cybernetically engineered assassin, those cybernetics are not on display here.
Indeed, no super powers, no super abilities are necessary. Like with 'An Innocent Guy' much of this story is about how easy it would be if you had the dedication.
You leave a clue in a city of the world's greatest Detective.
And you wait for events to go the way they always do. You read the comics, you know how this goes, you get yourself in position.
And from a window high up, there is a glint.
And that is how Batman lost his dick.
BATMAN #55

The KGBeast lives! The Russian super-assassin is back-but under whose orders? Does he have a specific mission, or is this simply some leftover Cold War mayhem? Nyet, comrade-it has to do with Bruce Wayne's recent court case involving Mr. Freeze. Something is rotten in Gotham, and you can still smell it, even if it's on ice!In Shops: Sep 19, 2018
