2000AD Fortieth Anniversary And Extremity #1 Go To A Second Printing
Celebrating four decades of 2000 AD's cutting edge and globally influenced comics, even the hugely increased print run for the 40th anniversary special has not satisfied demand.
A reprint edition of the 2000AD 40th Anniversary Special is now available (DEC167600). It will reframe the original Judge Dredd cover by Hawkeye artist David Aja from the first print run as a 'virgin' cover stripped of cover-lines.
While a limited edition featuring a new variant cover by Jock, based on the uniform from the 2012 DREDD movie, will be exclusively available through Forbidden Planet and Dublin's Big Bang Comics.
Matt Smith, editor of 2000 AD, said: "It's very gratifying to see the huge response to 2000 AD's 40th Anniversary Special, and indeed the Galaxy's Greatest Comic's birthday in general. The title clearly continues to resonate with fans, and the wider popular culture, four decades after it hit the stands in February 1977, and this special was assembled as a way to mark the incredible work done by so many contributors over the years. If you missed the chance to pick up this highly sought-after issue, then make sure you grab the reprint from your local comics store – it's a new benchmark in Thrill-power!"
The 48-page special is themed around the colour red – as befitting a ruby anniversary – and includes a brand-new case for Judge Dredd, courtesy of John Wagner and Carl Critchlow; Hammerstein and Ro-Jaws take their revenge on Howard Quartz in Ro-Busters by Pat Mills and Clint Langley; we return to the mad, mad world of Zombo by Al Ewing and Henry Flint; Nikolai Dante gets the party started in 'Devil May Care' by Robbie Morrison and Simon Fraser; a young Sláine shows that he's got what it takes to join the Red Branch, courtesy of Pat Mills and Simon Davis, while award-winning writer duo of Lauren Beukes and Dale Halvorsen are joined by the legendary Carlos Ezquerra for a new Durham Red story. It also includes pages by Jock and Bryan Talbot.
While Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment are thrilled to announce that the first issue of Daniel Warren Johnson's all-new war epic EXTREMITY is being fast-tracked to a second printing in order to keep up with overwhelming customer demand.
Extremity #1 will have a recolored logo and same cover art as the first print.
In EXTREMITY, an endless cycle of violence has taken an incredible toll on two cultures—and one family in particular. Thea, once a phenomenally gifted clan artist, hungers for revenge on the clan that ruined her family. With ferocious battles between man, machines, and monsters ahead…who knows where her quest for vengeance will take her?
EXTREMITY #1, 2nd printing (Diamond code: JAN178583) and EXTREMITY #2 (Diamond code: FEB170645) will both arrive in comic book stores on Wednesday, April 5th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, March 13th.
