The End in Champions #10 [Preview]

Champions #10 hits stores from Marvel Comics next week, by Jim Zub, Steven Cummings, Marcio Menyz, and Clayton Cowles… and for the last time, as the series is canceled with this issue, perhaps to be replaced next year by Young Avengers instead? But that's to be sorted out later. For now, we've got a series to end, and a preview below. Shall we read along?

Champions #10

As if things weren't going badly enough for the Champions in this series, Blackheart has been whispering in everyone's ears, turning the Champions on each other.

Champions #10

And now it's a Champions vs. Champions war, which shows why this book is getting canceled. Everyone knows if you're going to have heroes fight each other, you ought to do it as a super-mega-crossover event with multiple tie-ins, dozens of variant covers, overpriced Alpha and Omega issues, and several line-crippling delays. But instead, this is all happening within the pages of the regular Champions title. What, do they want people to read this for the story or something?!

Champions #10

And so, the Champions must defeat the Champions if we're going to end this thing on a high note.

Champions #10

Or is that the Champions must beat the Champions? It depends on your perspective, true believer!

All we know is a lot of punching is going to happen.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
