Comics Alliance Closed By AOL
CBR's Robot 6 has the news. Comics Alliance's parent company AOL has pulled the plug on the site.
Launched by Laura Hudson, Comics Alliance became a home for intelligent reviews, hilarious snark, outraged reaction and curious cosplay. I was told by CA contributors of issues with AOL owners/managers over content – though editor Andy Khouri says that is "horseshit". Hudson left the site for Wired last year, but some of the savage bite that it was famous for had been toned down.
They had no coverage of C2E2 – which wasn't that usual of weekends of late- but now it seems official. Caleb Goellner did post this link ink today, but there had been nothing for three days previous.
Expect a raid on all their very, very talented writers. Naturally, of course, Bleeding Cool is interested in, well, anyone who wrote for Comics Alliance, if you would lower yourselves. Andrew Wheeler? We'd have you back like a shot.
What will happen to the content, I have no idea. I'm glad this didn't happen now.
UPDATE: Conspiracy theorists in the forums, AOL and TimeWarner are different companies now, folks.
Pouring out a million fucking forties for @comicsalliance. A razor sharp site that distinguished itself daily. Much love to all my CA homies

Given the #of the comments section on some of their posts I would think @comicsalliance could go a paid subscription model. I'd pay.

Much love & positive vibes to the Comics Alliance team. I know what it's like to be where they are & it's no fun.

I want to reiterate what @laura_hudson said. This was a strategic decision by AOL. There was and is an audience for Comics Alliance.

All the best to my many friends at Comics Alliance @calebandrew @andykhouri @theisb @hermanos @daviduzumeri — amazing lineup

Hate to see Comics Alliance go away. That was a really solid comics site with good reporting/writing. Sorry, guys.

Bummed about @comicsalliance ending. They were a great voice for comics & one of my absolute favorite sites. Thank you for everything.
