Comics With Female Leads, And With Star Wars, Dominate Marvel Digital Sales

silkLast month comiXology ran a Buy One Get One Free on all Marvel titles.

Here is the top ten.

1. Silk #1
2. Star Wars #2
3. Darth Vader #1
4. Star Wars #1
5. Ms. Marvel #12
6. Ms. Marvel #11
7. Ms. Marvel #10
8. Thor #5
9. Ms. Marvel #9
10 Thor #4

Seven out of ten books with female leads and the rest of them Star Wars titles. Though no Princess Leia for some reason.

So what does this teach us? There is a larger, growing audience for female lead titles than previously recognised. That mass media publicity is having an effect. And people who bought Star Wars #1 in print bought #2 in digital.

But they'd prefer a lower price point…

Oh and Silk blows Spider-Gwen out of the chart…
