In Some Freakish Elseworlds Timeline, Dan DiDio Might Have Taken Over DC Comics 25 Years Early

It was in 2002 that Dan DiDio first started working at DC Comics, originally as a Vice President, then Executive Editor, and finally Co-Publisher. DiDio has since brought DC's readers such memorable moments like Identity Crisis, Countdown, the Nu52 Reboot, and the "Whoops, Sorry About That" DC Rebirth Not-A-Reboot Reboot.

But DiDio was trying to break into the company much earlier than that. In a Facebook post over the weekend, DiDio shared a rejection letter from DC dating back to 1977.

"This morning's oddities while cleaning," DiDio wrote in the post. If DiDio's pitch had been accepted, he would surely have swiftly moved up the ranks, possibly gaining control of the company even before 1985's Crisis on Infinite Earths. Can you imagine DiDio being in charge of that seminal super-mega-crossover event and its aftermath?

But he was rejected, and set on the career path we're all familiar with, giving DC an extra 25 years of DiDio-free development before he arrived. But in an alternate universe where the mysterious "N.G." accepted DiDio's submission, things could have been much different.
