Dark Knight And Deadpool Dominate Advance Reorders
Greetings from the coal face of the direct comics market. Where retailers try to increase their orders of certain comics ahead of sale. Where supply and demand and most accurately reflected, where you can see which books are hot, where new orders are coming in and how retailers are reacting to new, unanticipated desire!
A special two-in-one column this week as I also cover the stats from last week, during New York Comic Con. As Dark Knight III and Deadpool top the charts – and look how Dark Knight is uplifting the Batman backlist, there are strong upticks from Howard The Duck, the Bitch Planet hardcover for Local Comic Shop Day, the last chance or retailers to up orders on Uncanny X-Men #600 and the second issue of Paper Girls gets an uplift from the performance of the first. And while Marvel are pushing #2s such as Doctor Strange ,it's their #3s that get extra attention on the back of the performance of the relaunch of Iron Man and Amazing Spider-Man, while Monstress and James Bond also get an uptick.
The previous week was all Black Magick #1 as the first issue got a push from rejigged covers, the Darkseid Wars benefited from its renaming, and all the Star Wars titles got a big bump, especially anything linked to the Vader Down crossover.
