London Comic Shops Still Using Pre-Brexit Prices On Monthly Titles

cbSomething's got to give. But it hasn't happened yet.

I hear on the grapevine that the fellow who sets prices at Forbidden Planet is on holiday, and isn't back yet. So even though Diamond Comic Distribution is charging British stores up to 20% more as a result of the plunging value of the pound, post-Brexit vote, and British comic shops have mostly put prices up to match, in central London, there's a game of chicken being played.

Forbidden Planet haven't put up prices and are taking the hit on new comics. And both Gosh Comics and Orbital Comics are continuing to match their previous price as well. No one can be seen to move first and lose customers to the other two. And Forbidden Planet, who would traditionally make the first move – hasn't. Prices have shifted on collection – but not on the singles.

What does that mean? Well for London comic shoppers, I would recommend that if you are wondering to go in this week or next for your new comics – I'd go in this week. And for those in the outlying regions, a trip to the capital may be fulfilling in more ways than one.
