Big Hero 6's Gus Vasquez Needs a Hero of His Own

Gus Vasquez is a comic book artist who drew the first published appearance of Big Hero Six, and who recently worked on in The Snagglepuss Chronicles, Green Lantern, Suicide Squad and Deadpool.

He writes on the GoFundMe site,

My girlfriend went to Indiana last week to try and get joint custody or more visitation for her children. When she appeared at court, her ex-husband's lawyer explained to her that, unfortunately, something happened and he had passed away over the weekend, therefore custody would be immediately granted to her, pending a court order from the judge assigned to the case.

By the time I arrived, judgement had been passed, and we were informed that there should be a transitional period from his family to us to get the children mentally (as could be) ready to transition to their new home in CA.

So, we're getting custody July 2, and as no one was prepared for the tragedy that occurred, we have had no time to save up anything for their arrival, especially not a permanent one.

That all being said, the boys, Caleb and Troy 4, and 7, as well as our girl, Dakota, 2, are going to need all the emotional and financial support we can provide. Their father was the sole provider for their family, including medical insurance.

The money raised will lessen the financial strain for any and all expenses involved will cause them in this time of mourning and transition.

We're hoping this will provide help with, firstly, airline tickets to bring the kids home, new beds, bedding, some clothing, as well as helping with the added expense of food and more for the kids. We're also looking at possibly buying a used vehicle that we can use to transport the children to anything they need, including counseling the court has instructed us to seek to help the kids with their coping with, understanding their father's passing and adjusting to their new living situation.

The hope is that this will give us time and breathing room to catch up and get on our feet so we can provide a good home environment for the kids.

Over $3000 has been raised of their $10000 goal, including from comic creators Jamal Igle, Jessica Weber, Meridith Gottlieb, Tony Puryear and Dean Haspiel.
