Greg Baldino Wraps Up C2E2

Greg Baldino has been writing for Bleeding Cool for a year today.

There's always lots to be covered at any con, and sometimes bits fall through the cracks. Thankfully there's always the wrap-up column to piece it all together and solve the mystery. Or something. Long weekend, sorry.

Ben Templesmith, the best-dressed cephalopod enthusiast was on hand signing copies of his artbook SQUIDGIRLS: EROTICA TENTACULA, which is pretty much what you are imagining, yes. Someone needs to get him and Michael Manning working on a project together.

Jacen Burrows let slip that there's more Crossed on the way with a return from series co-creator Garth Ennis, Jamie Delano and maybe maybe maybe, if you're good more, David Lapham.

A fan of Gravel? Good! Miss the title about Warren Ellis' SAS occult detective? Cry no longer, for according to writer/artist Mike Wolfer there'll be a new series titles Gravel: The To Be Announced Subtitle coming out later this year.

Did you know that Oni Press publishes books besides Scott Pilgrim? Not only that, but they're great too, though the con still saw a plethora of Ramona Flowers, and a few Gideon Graves. There might have been hundreds of Scott Pilgrim costumes as well, or they were just guys in need of a haircut. You make the call, true bleeders.

Katie Cook certainly had a good time. A Michigan-based cartoonist on the web at www.katiecandraw.com this is her second C2E2 and it won't be her last. "I love this show, it's my favorite. It's been better this year for everyone, because there weren't the first-year jitters; everyone knew that last year was so great. Cook had just come from a kids drawing event, which was a new experience,. "I was mobbed by children. Don't get me wrong, I love kids, but I nearly slapped them!" Her highlight from this year was being asked to draw a monster with the heads of Bill Cosby and Don Knotts, just to trip her up and see if she could pull it off. Which she did, because that's how people from Michigan roll.

And now it's time for this person from Michigan to roll back to his masseuse and about five martinis. Which just leaves me to thank Rich Johnston of Bleeding Cool, Roger Bilheimer and Lance Fensterman with Reed Exhibitions, David Steinberger and Trace Cohen at ComiXology, William Christensen and the whole Avatar Crew, Joe Scalora with Del Rey, everyone who spared some time to speak with me, pose for photographs, or explain something to me five times so I could get it, and a special Paul Duffiled variant cover thank you to my plucky sidekick Samantha LaFountain.
