Bagge, Berger, Breevort, Claremont, Finch, Gibbons, Johns, Shelton, Smith, Talbot, Van Sciver, Waid and Wood To Judge Eagle Awards Talent InitiativeOkay, I have to admit it, this is kind of a cool idea. The Eagle Awards which launched their nominations for voting last week (including a certain Bleeding Cool mention, natch) is creating the Eagle Award Initiative to reward talent yet to be published professionally.

Entrants submit an original comic book story, which will be narrowed down by a comics reading jury, then the top twelve will be given to the judges to make their decision, choosing a top three.

Currently the current judges line up includes Peter Bagge, Karen Berger, Tom Breevort, Chris Claremont, David Finch, Dave Gibbons, Geoff Johns, Gilbert Shelton, Jeff Smith, Bryan Talbo, Ethan Van Sciver, Mark Waid and Brian Wood.

The winner will be awards £1000, the runner up £500 and the second runner up £250. All three stories will appear in the Initiative Anthology published in print and digitally in multiple languages.

The worldwide talent search begins in July. The website is however up and running.
