Job Requirements • BA in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
• 1 to 3 years of related experience in publishing or entertainment
• Excellent writing and communications skills
• An in-depth knowledge of comics and the broader pop culture landscape
• Ability to think strategically, deliver under tight deadlines, and maintain detailed schedules
• A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and Illustrator
• Some travel required
• Must live in the greater New York City area and work out of Valiant's offices in Manhattan
About Our Company: Valiant Entertainment is seeking a motivated individual for our marketing department to assist in the management of strategic marketing and publicity activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Organize and implement strategic publicity programs around upcoming Valiant releases
• Manage and maintain company press contacts and cultivate new relationships in the national media
• Draft and distribute press releases and other corporate communications
• Manage creation of sales, promotional and other marketing materials
• Manage organization and distribution of art assets and marketing copy for publicity purposes
• Manage website and lead creation of digital marketing assets
• Manage master marketing calendar and coordinate needs with other departments as needed
• Conduct ongoing market and competitive research and analysis
• Coordinate convention activities and other business functions as needed
• Other duties as assigned
• Position reports to the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Digital Media

Put your passion for comic books and pop culture to work for the premiere comic book retailer! Midtown Comics is seeking a Chief Comic Book Buyer, a full time, challenging, and highly rewarding position.  Job duties will include procuring back issues, key issues, collections, supervising the vetting of condition, grading, authentication of properties, reviewing inquiries, and much more.

Required skills:

  • -Encyclopedic knowledge of comic books from the Golden Age to today.
  • -Expert grading skills, and complete familiarity with the systems in place by CGC, and Overstreet.
  • -Extensive experience in the comic book industry.
  • -Highly personable, with natural skill in verbal and written communications.
  • -Exceptional negotiating skills.
  • -Expertise in "closing the deal."
  • -Experience with an auction house is welcome, but not required.
  • -Must be detail oriented.
  • -Must be available to work full time Monday – Friday (possibly some weekends if required).

-Our warehouse is very accessible via the Long Island Railroad, just one block from the New Hyde Park station.

Responsibilities:

  • -Accomplishes department objectives by  orienting, training, assigning, scheduling,  and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring; adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • -Meets department operational standards by resolving problems and identifying warehouse system improvements.
  • -Moves inventory to and from warehouse; coordinating inventory transfers to multiple locations.
  • -Maintains storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
  • -Maintains inventory by conducting quarterly physical counts; reconciling variances; inputting data.
  • -Accomplishes department and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • -At least two years of supervising experience
  • -Advanced Comic Knowledge a must
  • -Dependability
  • -Ability to analyze information
  • -Dealing with Complexity
  • -Time Management
  • -Organization

MUST be available Monday through Friday, 8:30AM – 4:30PM
