8423_top1_160_thumbEveryone else came 15th. I promise.

But the new Travel + Leisure Magazine profiles America's thirteen best comic stores, as tourist destinations. And they are,

  • Quimby's in Chicago
  • Meltdown Comics,  L.A
  • Floating World Comics, Portland, OR
  • Desert Island, Brooklyn, NY
  • Big Planet Comics, Washington, D.C.
  • Austin Books & Comics, TX
  • Isotope, San Francisco
  • Laughing Ogre Comics, Columbus, OH
  • Crescent City Comics, New Orleans
  • Arcane Comics, Seattle
  • Heroes Aren't Hard to Find, Charlotte, NC
  • Atomic Books, Baltimore
  • Midtown Comics, NYC
  • Cartoon Art Museum Bookstore, San Francisco

So… who else should be on the list? Can we get a Bleeding Cool vote for A Comic Shop in Orlando?

And if you're still browsing the racks, check out Men's Journal for Stan's advice.

What's the best advice you've ever received?
When I was about 12 or 13, we had this yearbook, and everybody had to get a quote from a teacher. Next to my name, the teacher wrote, "The greatest are the humblest." I don't know why she picked me to write that for, but it always stuck with me.
