Will The X-Men Moira Away Krakoa After All? Welcome Today's XSpoilers
It's tough to be a mutant, X-Men or not, in the Marvel Universe right now. But what would you do to press a big Krakoa reset button?
Article Summary
- Mutants use Native American reservations as a sanctuary from Orchis.
- Sabretooth leads an attack on Krakoa, facing off against Sentinels.
- Future of X-Men explored: Ms Marvel's rise & the absence of mutants on Earth.
- Discussion of Krakoa's fate and potential plot twists in X-Men comics.
It's tough to be a mutant, X-Men or not, in the Marvel Universe right now. Even the suggestion that someone might be such is enough to enrage a mob, as in today's Sentry #2. That's even without the giant robot Sentinels coming to get you.
But on Marvel Unlimited X-Men #121, some mutants who also happen to be Native Americans have found a loophole to get away from Orchis, on Native American reservations.
While Sabretooth – all of him – heads to Krakoa in today's Wolverine to kick off their big fight over the next several issues.
And yes, the place is overrun with those big robots.
Not even the big X-Men psychics can get past them.
Basically you'd have to be as stupid as Sabretooth to avoid their glare. While Rise Of The Powers Of X #1 takes a look at the future of everyone.
And there aren't any mutants left on Earth. The X-Men sees Ms Marvel getting a promotion, Tony Stark just a retaining AI, what happened to Kate Pryde after she ingested a Death Seeds given to Celestial-appointed evolutionary caretakers, such as Apocalypse. And we have both Old Man Synch and still-looking-fresh Wolverine.
The Hellfire Club of the present refits Winter Soldier, Black Widow and White Widow as they at least try and pretend to be mutants in Thunderbolts #2.
Orchis have no reservations about taking on Native American mutants but, like Typhoid Mary over in Amazing Spider-Man, more of the Realm Of X refugees of Vanaheim have returned…
The Sabretooths get hungry for some Omega Mutants. Will we get one last run at resurrection for Quentin Quire or is this it?
Because Quentin doesn't seem to have turned up ten years into this future. How much of it remains, that is. Previously, upcomonhg X-Men editor Tom Brevoort posted "Everybody is not going to be happy. It's impossible. There isn't that much consensus among X-MEN fans. (I got a message from somebody else who begged me to maintain the current Krakoa status quo, who stated without hyperbole that "99% of X-Men fans love Krakoa." I didn't respond to this—I don't really respond to any of it at this point—but my answer would have been, "Yeah, maybe 99% of the X-Men fans that you hear from. My polling data is a little bit more divided."
Previously Bleeding Cool heard that "the new X-Men era won't reboot Krakoa away, so don't expect the death of a remaining Moira Mactaggert clone to reset the timeline. It can't, it would have to reset the whole Marvel Comics timeline." And then Kieron Gillen wrote this for RB Silva to draw.
Now they might be able to get rid of the Rise Of The Powers Of X timeline by killing a teenage Moria Mactaggert, but all the way to before Krakoa like some 4chan posters have claimed? As far as I know, that's just not happening. Let alone killing a Scottish teenager before her first, well, anything pretty much. But what do I know? Is Kieron gearing up to prove me wrong and 4chan right? It could happen… but to all the Krakoa haters out there, would you kill an innocent teenager to prevent it? Only you know the answer to that..
