New Dumbo TV Spot Teases a Lovable Flying Elephant
The first of three live-action Disney remakes will come out in a little over a month and no one is really sure what to make of it quite yet. Dumbo is a movie that left an entire generation traumatized whenever they hear the song Baby of Mine and director Tim Burton is not the bulletproof director that he once was. There have been a lot of flops in the recent years so Burton's name is not enough to get people into the theaters. However, judging by the marketing, Disney isn't quite sure what's going to get you into the theaters. They aren't really showing off their impressive cast, and while the visuals look interesting, they aren't quite there. In fact, the marketing seems to be focused entirely on Dumbo and the little elephant is the sole reason to see this movie. Dumbo is the star of this new TV spot as we listen to that sad rendition of Baby of Mine again.
This is a movie that's going to need some critical buzz to get people in the theaters–or at least that's what it seems like. It didn't have the extremely positive reaction of The Lion King or the endless debates and memes that the Aladdin footage does. Instead, no one seems to be talking about this one much. We'll have to see how things pan out at the end of next month.
Summary: A young elephant, whose oversized ears enable him to fly, helps save a struggling circus, but when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets beneath its shiny veneer.
Dumbo, directed by Tim Burton, stars Colin Farrell, Nico Parker, Finley Hobbins, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, and Eva Green. It will be released on March 29th, 2019.
